19年前曼城最后一次降级！38轮狂丢65球，有金球先生也没用
整整19年前，也就是2001年5月19日，是曼城上一次从英超降级的日子。19年来，蓝月亮已经从一支弱队变成豪门，4夺英超冠军，放在当年，这是断然不敢想象的事情。
遥想19年前的那支曼城，主教练是英国本土的乔伊尔，最大牌球星是从AC米兰引进的金球奖得主乔治-维阿，锋线上还有哥斯达黎加的万乔普，百慕大的高特，中场有多特蒙德前锋哈兰德的父亲老哈兰德，从利兹联引进前曼联边锋坎切尔斯基，后防线上有理查德-邓恩坐镇，实力其实并不差。
但曼城的防守实在是太糟糕了，甚至连主力门将都确定不了。赛季第一轮，他们就0-4惨败给查尔顿，前6轮场场都有丢球，之后还被阿森纳两回合0-9血洗，被利兹联0-4暴揍，一场丢2-3个都是寻常事。
该赛季最后一轮，曼城主场迎战切尔西，结果又被怀斯和哈塞尔巴因克进了俩，最终1-2告负，38轮一共丢了65球，进球数只有41个，净胜球是-24，以倒数第三名的身份降入第二级别联赛——英甲。
所以，当孙继海2002年2月加盟时，曼城还在英甲征战呢。不过仅用一个赛季的时间，蓝月亮就杀回英超，从此再未降级。

利兹联以前在英超的死对头是哪支/些球队
以前在英超的话，头号死敌就是曼联，称作为蔷薇德比，还有加拉塔萨雷和切尔西也都是死敌。
和曼联是有历史渊源。曼联与利兹联的积怨被指与1455至87年间的英国内战“蔷薇战争”有关。当时兰开斯特家族（即曼联所属地区）家族和约克家族（即利兹联所属地区）家族，为英格兰王位开战；而兰开斯特家族的徽号为红色玫瑰，约克家族则以白玫瑰为标记，刚好分别是曼联和利兹联的球衣颜色。若从足球的角度分析，曼联和利兹联则是在争逐谁是英格兰最佳“联队”，故此两队球迷于比赛时，都会高唱“There's only one United”（只有1个联队）。遗憾的是，利兹联不时将球员售予曼联，远者有乔登·麦克奎因页面乔登·麦克奎（Gordon McQueen）与乔·乔登，近则有埃里克·坎通纳、里奥·费迪南德和阿兰·史密斯等球员。由于曼联和利兹联的之间的紧张关系，甚至连曼联主教练亚历斯·费格逊亦曾说过埃兰路球场是在欧洲足球界最骇人的地方。
另外和加拉塔萨雷的关系是因为当年利兹联与加拉塔萨雷在欧洲赛场相遇时，加拉塔萨雷极端球迷捅死过两个利兹球迷，所以可以说这两家异国球队的球迷是老死不相往来。
另外球队降到英冠之后，主要的死敌是卡迪夫城和谢菲尔德联队
